Mumpsimus (noun, Middle English): Incorrigible, dogmatic old pedant. Also called a foolosopher. Derived through incorrect copying of the Latin word sumpsimus. Found in the delightful book, Forgotten English, by Jeffrey Kacirk, Quill Books, New York, 1999.

This is the discussion area for anything relating to Henry Hudson, tequila, Triumph motorcycles, Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Shakespeare or other areas of interest from my web site. It is not limited to those topics, but the layout has been designed to suit those subject areas.

Vox clamantis in deserto*: Grammatical errata, incorrect spelling, excessive use of Internet acronyms or abbreviations are egregious violations of the basic laws of good communication and proper English. Try to use proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation if nothing more than to set a good example and stay in practice. Language is a powerful tool: use it carefully and wisely. A person is often judged by how well he or she communicates.

The forum has been updated to IPB Version 2.1.3 as of Nov. 7, 2005. There are several ongoing changes to various board functions, so please take the time to explore them. Your member's control panel has many upgrades as well.

I have added a spell checker, a gallery where you can view or post images, as well as a section to list your favourite sites and a community blog. Other changes and enhancements including graphics, style and layout changes and some scripting modifications are always in the works. Software upgrades are frequent and necessary. Please be patient - it's not something that can be done overnight. I may have to temporarily close the board to complete a change, so check back later if you find it thus.
